Why a free membership
Most health publishing makes its money one of two ways: a paywall, or advertising that quietly shapes the coverage. Neither works well for health journalism, where the people who most need good information are often the least able to pay for it and the least well served by advertiser-friendly stories.
So we have separated the two things that usually get bundled together. The journalism is free — all of it, permanently, to anyone who lands here from a search at two in the morning. Membership is the relationship: it tells us who we are writing for, gives us a direct line to readers, and lets us build the guides, plans and events that a publication can only make when it knows its audience.
We will be straight with you about how this is funded as it develops. If that ever changes, you will read it here first rather than discovering it at a paywall.

Is membership really free?
Yes. WomenWelly is an online-only magazine and membership is free at the point of joining. We are not asking for card details, and all of our journalism is free to read regardless.
Then why join at all?
Membership is how we know who we are writing for. Members shape what we test and what we investigate, get the plans and guides in downloadable form, and hear from the desk directly.
What happens after I leave my email?
Nothing automatic. We are opening membership in waves so we can support people properly. You will get one email from a person confirming we have you on the list, and a second when your place is ready.
Will you sell my email address?
No. We do not sell, rent or share reader data with advertisers or data brokers. See our privacy notice for the full detail.
Can I leave?
Any time, with one click in any email we send. Nothing is retained beyond what our privacy notice describes.
